Welcome to CIIRTA 2027

— Welcome Message —

Welcome to CIIRTA 2027 Tokyo: — the 20th Congress of the International Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplantation Association

On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, it is our great honor to welcome you to the 20th CIIRTA Congress — the first ever in Asia — in the vibrant city of Tokyo, Japan. Our theme, “Fusion for the Future — 和 (Wa)”, reflects the spirit of bringing together diverse disciplines, cultures, and perspectives to advance the field of intestinal rehabilitation and transplantation.

At the heart of where centuries-old tradition meets cutting-edge innovation, Tokyo offers the perfect stage for this milestone gathering. Over four days, clinicians, scientists, nurses, allied health professionals, patients, and families will connect, share, and collaborate to shape the next decade of progress in patient care, research, and global partnerships.

We invite you to join us in celebrating this historic occasion to learn, exchange, and experience the unique harmony of science, community, and culture that only Tokyo can offer.

We look forward to welcoming you, your colleagues, as well as your family — to CIIRTA 2027 Tokyo!

— Slogan —

Fusion for the Future — 和 (Wa)

Pronounced as "Wa" The Japanese character “和” carries rich and layered meanings. More than signifying fusion, harmony, and peace, it also embodies the essence of Japan, from traditional arts and cuisine (washoku) to the spirit of community and respect.

In the context of CIIRTA 2027, “Fusion” represents the integration of:

  • Intestinal rehabilitation and transplantation
  • Western and Eastern cultures
  • Basic science and clinical practice
  • Multidisciplinary healthcare teams and the patients and families they serve
  • Japan’s timeless traditions with modern science, technology, and innovation

By adding the term “for the Future”, our theme looks forward to build a shared future for intestinal rehabilitation and transplantation, — encouraging collaboration not only within Japan and Asia, but also across the globe.

Let us come together in Tokyo to realize this vision, uniting our knowledge, skills, and cultures in the true spirit of “Wa”.
